Amidst some harsh reviews (it’s sporting a dismal 29% at Rotten Tomatoes), the movie that many thought was going to be one of this years dominating box office powerhouses has suffered a major drop in ticket sales in it’s second week. After an opening weekend run of $166 million, and a total first week gross of $209.1 million, the film that brings the two biggest DC Comics icons together is seeing a drop down to about a $50 million estimate by the time this weekend comes to a close. It’s likely to still carry the weekend as the top earner, as there is little in the way of wide-appeal films out this weekend. But the critics ripping into the film, and the online backlash by many who were left underwhelmed by the crossover film is certainly taking it’s toll on the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight.
