A 93-year-old World War Two veteran from California named Ernie Andrus sold everything he owned three years ago after his wife passed away. And he started raising money for charity by running across the COUNTRY.
He started near San Diego in October 2013, a few months after his 90th birthday. And he’s been doing 10 to 20 miles a week since then.
He finally made it to the Atlantic Ocean in St. Simons, Georgia this past Saturday. And it makes him the oldest person to EVER run across the United States.
There’s a video online of him making it to the ocean, and hundreds of people showed up to cheer for him.
He was trying to raise enough money to send an old World War Two ship back to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. And unfortunately he didn’t reach his goal. But the anniversary is two years away, so there’s still time.
