Dick Clark Productions Blasts Carey Allegations
(New York, NY) — Dick Clark Productions says the idea that it would sabotage an artist’s performance is “defamatory, outrageous” and “absurd.” It issued that statement in response to allegations made by a rep for Mariah Carey. Nicole Perna tells “Billboard” the singer was set up to fail in her performance for the “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” broadcast, and that a faulty earpiece kept her from hearing her music cues. More than eight million people were tuned into the program and the video has since gone viral.
