Yesterday was the Lake Crest Elementary Spelling Bee in Oakland and nine students competed with Camille Clifton coming out on top. She won the Bee for correctly spelling the word “daunted.” Clifton, a sixth-grader, and other top spellers from the Oakland school district will now advance to the annual Coles County Spelling Bee on Feb. 16th at the Charleston Middle School. Winners of that competition will advance to the regional competition.
