According to WCIA online, the Illinois Department of Transportation, IDOT, is starting to stress for everyone to remember work zone safety while driving. More orange cones are beginning to pop up on the roads as construction plans are underway. And for National Work Zone Awareness Week, they are urging drivers to to drive safely. IDOT officials want you to be aware of your surroundings and slow down when necessary to help stop deaths on the road. According to experts drivers are more likely to be in accidents when in work zones and possibly cause fatalities. In 2016 about 45 deaths were in state work zones.
