Bird Officially Steps Down
(Indianapolis, IN) – Larry Bird says “it’s just time to go.” The basketball legend told reporters Monday that he’s stepping down as president of the Indiana Pacers to spend more time with his wife and family. Bird says his decision to leave has nothing to do with whether or not the team will be able to re-sign All-Star player Paul George after the 2018 season. Bird was the head coach of Indiana from 1997-to-2000, and then became president of basketball operations.
