High winds and dust led to a fatal accident in Douglas County yesterday. Illinois State Police say a tractor-trailer was stopped in the roadway due to two crashes blocking Route 36. The driver of a car, a 16-year-old male from Mahomet, entered the dust cloud and was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid striking the semi. He was transported to Carle, where he died of his injuries. Two passengers, both 17-year-old boys, also from Mahomet, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
