RON HOWARD has been named as the new director of the young Han Solo movie.
He Tweeted, quote, “I’m beyond grateful to add my voice to the Star Wars Universe after being a fan since 5/25/77. I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film.”
It’s an interesting full-circle kind of thing, because Ron worked with GEORGE LUCAS years before the original “Star Wars” even happened . . . in George’s 1973 classic “American Graffiti”.
AND that movie also featured the original Han Solo himself, HARRISON FORD.
Original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired after completing about three-quarters of principal photography. That’s pretty late into the shoot, but supposedly, they were let go because they were making more of a comedy than Lucasfilm wanted.
