UPDATE: 1 Person Arrested For Suspicious Powder Situation At IL Capitol
(Springfield, IL) — One person is under arrest following a suspicious powder situation at the Illinois State Capitol. The woman was taken into custody on the third floor of the building this afternoon. It’s believed she threw the powder at Governor Bruce Rauner’s office, but lawmakers tell “Chicago Sun-Times” she may have thrown the substance at other offices. No injuries have been reported, but the building is shut down until further notice.

UPDATE: IL Governor Wasn’t At Capitol When HazMat Situation Happened
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is not in danger following a report someone threw powder at his office. The governor wasn’t at the state Capitol this afternoon because he was attending the funeral of State Trooper Ryan Albin. The Capitol has been evacuated while a HazMat crew checks the scene. The House was getting ready to vote on whether to override Rauner’s veto of the state budget. That won’t happen until the building is declared safe.
