Famed Notre Dame Coach Ara Parseghian Dies At 94
(South Bend, IN) — Famed Notre Dame Head Football Coach Ara Parseghian is dead at the age of 94. The university announced his passing early this morning. Parseghian led the Fighting Irish to national championships in 1966 and 1973. In a statement released by the school, University President Reverend John Jenkins said “Notre Dame mourns the loss of a legendary football coach, a beloved member of the Notre Dame family and good man – Ara Parseghian.” Parseghian retired from coaching after the 1974 season and entered broadcasting as a color commentator. Funeral arrangements are pending.
