There have been about a MILLION adaptations of STEPHEN KING’s work. Some have been amazing, some have been PITIFUL.
With “The Dark Tower” hitting theaters tomorrow, and the new “It” coming in a month, “Rolling Stone” ranked King’s movies from worst to best.
But since there’s not enough bandwidth in existence to list them all, they just took 30 of the, quote, “best-known, most notable” ones.
And they stuck to MOVIES. Which means the original “It” and “Salem’s Lot” miniseries weren’t included, as fantastic as they were.
Here are their Top 10 . . .
- “Carrie”, 1976.
- “Misery”, 1990.
- “The Dead Zone”, 1983.
- “Stand By Me”, 1986.
- “The Shining”, 1980.
- “The Shawshank Redemption”, 1994.
- “Children of the Corn”, 1984.
- “Christine”, 1983.
- “The Mist”, 2007.
- “Creepshow”, 1982.
Coming in at #30 is the vampire flick “The Night Flier” (1997) . . . followed by “The Mangler” (1995), “Dreamcatcher”(2003), “1408” (2007), and “Maximum Overdrive” (1986).
