A three motorcycle and car collision Monday afternoon, 8/7/17 in Fayette County, sends three to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to Illinois State Police District 12, a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Sharon A. Durbin, 62, of St. Elmo, IL (unit 4) was in a private drive at the intersection of US 40 at 1950th street when she pulled out from the drive and onto the roadway causing oncoming eastbound traffic to rapidly slow down. Three motorcycles approached, attempted to pass, then had to slow down. While doing so Patrick Lynch, of Southfield, MI (unit 1) lost control and fell onto the pavement. It then caused a chain reaction, where the other two motorcycles, Christopher Robinson (unit 2) and Paul Ozog (unit 3) both of Southfield, MI, fell over as well before coming to a rest in the north ditch.
All three motorcyclists were transported to Fayette County hospital with minor injuries where they were later released. All units were issued citations: Lynch for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash, Robinson and Ozog for Following too Closely, and Durbin for Failure to Yield at a Private Drive.
