Regarding the Wednesday, August 16 accident at 4th and Maple Streets involving an Illinois Central school bus (Bus #37), members of the Charleston Fire Department conducted a triage of passengers on site. According to Assistant Superintendent Chad Burgett who was at the accident site, there were no injuries among any of the 12 students or the bus driver. Additional information regarding the accident can be requested through the Charleston Police Department or Illinois Central School Bus.

The CUSD #1 district office was notified at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16 of an accident at 4th and Maple Streets involving an Illinois Central school bus (Bus #37). According to Assistant Superintendent Chad Burgett who was at the accident site, members of the Charleston Fire Department were checking for any injuries of vehicle passengers. Illinois Central School Bus staff are working to notify parents of all approximately 30 students from Jefferson Elementary School and arranging for alternate transportation.
