A couple in their mid-60s were driving near Sarasota, Florida on Sunday when their car started smoking and caught on FIRE. And their electric locks and windows malfunctioned, so they were trapped inside.
But luckily an off-duty traffic cop named Willie Finklea was passing by on his way home from church with his wife.
He saw the guy inside trying to break one of the windows with his cane. So he knew he needed to smash a window to get them out. But he was on his motorcycle, and he didn’t have anything heavy enough.
He did have his GUN though, and decided that was his only option. So he shot out one of their back windows . . . got the door open . . . and climbed INTO the car to pull the woman out. Then he got the guy out too, and they’re both okay.
The fire started spreading right after that, and most of the car was engulfed.
Willie says he doesn’t usually take the road they were on, and took a different route home that day. So he’s just glad he was in the right place at the right time.
He also says shooting the window wasn’t the best option, it was just his ONLY option. So he’s planning to buy one of those window breaker tools in case he ever needs one again. (Herald-Tribune)
