Not only did the EIU Panthers earn a huge road win over #24 Tennessee State, but two of its players were singled out for their efforts in Music City. Quarterback Scotty Gilkey Jr. was named OVC Offensive Player of the Week and Co-Newcomer of the Week. Gilkey scored the game’s first touchdown and the game-winner in overtime. He finished the game with 104 yards rushing. Linebacker Nick Horne was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The senior had 12 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble.
