Sometimes, even little ones can be heroes, and not all of them wear capes!
Life Scout 13 Year-Old Jacob Sturrock was fishing with a friend in Cosgrove’s Pit in Connecticut when he saw a couple and their dogs fall from their boat into the cold water.
He and his companion quickly jumped into action and paddled over to the couple, who were in a panic because they could not properly swim. One of his friends on shore called 911.
Sturrock got into the water and helped the dogs onto the paddle boat. He had the couple hold the back of the boat, but they panicked and caused the boat to tip, having everyone fall back into the water. Sturrock calmed everyone down and managed to convince the couple to hold tight while he pulled the paddle boat to shore.
After getting everyone safely back to land, The Fire and Police department arrived and took over. No serious injuries, and Sturrock earned himself an Honor Medal, one of the highest honors given to Scouts for courageous actions.
