The City of Mattoon sponsors a Fall Leaf Collection for all residential properties in the City. The collection provides residents with weekly collection opportunities.
Fall Collection schedule will begin October 23rd and conclude on December 15th.
Zone 1: (NW) MONDAY: 19th St. West to City Limits & Western Ave North
Zone 2: (NE) TUESDAY: 19th St. East to City Limits & Charleston Ave North
Zone 3: (SE) WEDNESDAY: From CN Railroad East & to City limits Charleston Ave South
Zone 4: (TH) THURSDAY: From CN Railroad West to City Limits & Pine Ave South
Fall Collection Requirements: Materials must be in 30-gallon paper yard waste bags. No Plastic Bags. Paper yard waste bags are available at Home Depot, Kull Lumber, Rural King, County Market and Wal-Mart. Leaf bags must be placed within ten feet of the curb of a public street by 7:00 a.m. to ensure pickup on your scheduled day. Anything placed after 7:00 a.m. may not be picked up until the following week.
Residents are welcome to take their leaves to the Yard Waste Facility. The yard waste facility is open 7 days a week during daylight hours. Leaves must either be in paper yard waste bags or dumped loose on the leaf pile. Lawn mulching by mowing leaves into lawn is an easy alternative to disposing of leaves.
