THE WEEKND sold 169,000 copies of his new album “My Dear Melancholy” during its first week out, and that was enough to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200.
It’s his third straight album to top the chart, following “Starboy” and “Beauty Behind the Madness”. With just six songs, the album is the shortest album, by track count, to hit #1 since 2010, when the “Glee: The Music, Journey to Regionals” soundtrack debuted at #1. It also had six tracks.
