(Los Angeles, CA) — A preliminary hearing date will be set next week at the L.A. Criminal Courts Building for the man accused of stealing Frances McDormand’s Oscar from her table during the post-Academy Awards Governors Ball. Terry Bryant pleaded not guilty to grand theft charges and faces up to three years behind bars if convicted. McDormand reportedly doesn’t want to see Bryant prosecuted. However, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences technically owns the statuette and is listed on the police report as the victim. McDormand won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
