Hello all! I hope the official start of spring is treating everyone well. I am doing very well myself, having just returned from the happiest place on Earth, Disneyworld. And boy oh boy, did it live up to it’s name!
I had such an amazing time. I have heard stories from people about how they or their kids cried when it came time to leave Disneyworld and return home and I almost came to tears myself. I was there for five days and leading up to my trip I thought after five days of constant running around, park after park, on my feet all day long that I would be a bit tired and ready to come home and rest, but that was not the case. I just wanted to stay and keep the fun times rolling.
I attribute that stamina and ability to keep going to all the success I have had with losing weight with the help of Sarah Bush Lincoln and HMR. A year ago, there is simply no way I would have been able to handle that kind of physical exertion for even one day, let alone five days and then hankering for even more. Not to mention that there would have been restrictions on what I could have ridden when I was at my heaviest and that would have been a true bummer.
I took some HMR products with me, but for the most part I was eating off of the diet throughout the trip. That is another draw of the wonderful world of Disney; they have some amazing restaurants and food at all of their parks. Especially at Epcot, where they have different tastes from different countries all around the world.
I’ll admit, I did over-indulge a bit on some sweet items, as well as had a few meals that were all-you-can-eat affairs that were absolutely delicious. There was some concern from me and my doctor that such foods might cause me some distress, especially following my recent gallbladder surgery and just the simple fact that my body wasn’t use to such foods. But I came through it with flying colors, never experiencing any kind of stomach aches or problems. And, through the whole time eating off of the diet, my weight remained pretty consistent. I suppose all that time spent on my feet and running around offset the sweets I was indulging in.
The trick has been getting back into the swing of things now that I am back home. Trying to reset myself onto the diet 100% has been a bit of a trial and I slipped a couple of times in the week that I have been back. But I got myself fully back into my workout routine (I have to keep my training going; my first 10K is only a month away) and I am getting my eating back on track. I’ve been in the box for the last few days and I just need to keep that going.
There was even a day or two that were warm enough that I was able to get out of the gym and run outside, which was a nice change of pace. But then in the last couple of days, the temp dropped again and nipped the outside runs in the bud, unfortunately. I am more than ready for the cold temperatures to go bye-bye and stay gone for a while.
So, I’ll let you know next week how reasserting myself on the diet and getting back in the box 100% went. I’ll let you know if I made it through the Easter weekend staying away from those chocolate eggs. Oh, and just because I want to keep the fun of amusement parks like Disneyworld going, I’m taking a couple of days this weekend to go to opening weekend at Six Flags, so I’ll let you know how that went, too.
Talk to ya later!
