Smartphones are blowing up in people’s ears. Meanwhile, those non-smartphones we all abandoned ten years ago are SAVING lives.
A former engineer for Nokia posted a photo on Twitter of an old-style Nokia phone with a BULLET lodged in it. Apparently it saved a guy’s life in Afghanistan last week.
It’s not clear if the owner was a soldier or someone who lives there. But you can see the tip of the bullet barely sticking through the front of the phone. And the back of the bullet is sticking through the case on the back.
A few people online posted photos making light of the whole thing. Like a guy who covered his entire chest in Nokia phones, so it looks like a bulletproof vest.
To be fair though, we’ve seen stories about smartphones stopping bullets too. A cashier in Florida survived when his HTC phone stopped a bullet in 2013.
And a guy in France survived one of the terrorist attacks in Paris last year, when his Samsung Galaxy S6 stopped a piece of shrapnel.
