The first meeting of Dog Obedience classes will be held April 11, 2017 at 6:30 PM at the Effingham Public Library, in the Luttrell meeting room. This will be an informational meeting only, do NOT bring dogs. We will be introducing leaders and discussing club rules, required proof of vaccinations, what to expect at practices, new classes being added, etc. If you have up to date vaccination records, you may bring them this night. Also, the club leaders are looking for a few adult volunteers who would be willing and able to help teach the beginner level obedience portion of the classes. Please register at https://web.extension.illinois.edu/registration/?RegistrationID=16486
NEW THIS YEAR, you must sign up for 4-H online, instead of using paper forms. Therefore, leaders will have laptops at this meeting and we will be able to help members get enrolled in 4-H, if you have not already done so. The enrollment deadline is May 1 – if you are not enrolled online by May 1, you will NOT be eligible to show at the Effingham County Fair. There is no wi-fi available at the fairgrounds, so this will be the only chance to have leaders assist with enrollment.
Regular practices will start on April 18 at 6:30 PM (weather permitting), and will be held at the Effingham County Fairgrounds each Tuesday at 6:30 PM through the end of July. Practice will last until approximately 7:30 PM. Dogs must have all required proof of vaccinations to be allowed at practice – please turn vaccination records into leaders before getting dogs out of vehicles the first night.
Also NEW THIS YEAR, the 4-H and Jr. Show dog shows will be held on Saturday, August 5, at 5 PM (or after the Pee Wee Show ends) and they will be held in the 4-H Arena instead of the Open Arena.
