According to WANDTV online, this morning around 10:00 am Pana Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of East 4th Street in Pana IL, where a deadly fire was overtaking a home. Pana Fire Department then received help from other local departments including Tower Hill, Nokomis, Oconee, Assumption, and Taylorville. The home was engulfed with smoke and fire and preliminary search for people inside the home had the firefighters encountering heavy fire venting and cleared out quickly. Once the fire was extinguished they continued their search and found one man deceased near a locked interior door. They have not revealed the identity of the man pending notification of next of kin and the investigation on what caused the fire is also still being conducted.
