Mattoon police arrested John D. Katz, age 43 of Mattoon, on Friday May 19th at 8:49 p.m. The arrest occurred in the 1800 block of Broadway Ave. Katz was taken into custody on a Coles County warrant of arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine. He was subsequently charged with an additional count of Possession of Methamphetamine. That charge alleges that Katz was found to be in possession of an additional amount of the drug at the time of his arrest. Katz was taken to the jail.
