There’s a school in Busan, South Korea named Daebyun Elementary School. What does “Daebyun” mean in Korean? FECES.
The school was founded in 1963 and the name comes from a port that’s nearby. They’ve stuck with the name ever since, even though it’s been humiliating for several generations of students. Well . . . that’s FINALLY changing.
After students and alumni got 4,000 signatures on a petition to change it, the school got permission from the board of education . . . and after 55 years as Feces Elementary School, they’ll pick a new name in March.
