Pentagon Flag Unfurling Begins 9-11 Commemorations
(Undated) — Commemorations of the 9-11 terrorist attacks are underway. Today is the 16th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Remembrances began at dawn with the unfurling of an American flag down the side of the Pentagon. It’s the re-enactment of firefighters draping a large flag across the damaged Defense Department headquarters the day after a hijacked jetliner slammed into the building. New Yorkers are gathering at the National September 11 Memorial Museum where the World Trade Center towers stood. Relatives will read the names of the nearly three-thousand people killed in Lower Manhattan on September 11th, 2001.
