(Mexico City) — A powerful earthquake in Mexico is leaving at least 42 people dead. The governor of Morelos, which is a state south of Mexico City, released the preliminary number following the 7.1-magnitude quake that was centered about 70 miles southeast of the capital city. Rescue operations are underway in some neighborhoods to rescue people that may be still inside buildings that are now mounds of concrete and brick.
