The Mattoon City Council will meet tonight and it’s expected they’ll appoint Deputy Chief Jason Taylor as chief of the Mattoon Police Department. Taylor has served under Chief Branson for seven years and with the department for nearly 20 years. If approved, the move would be effective December 1st.
