New in Theaters: “The Maze Runner” and “Hostiles”
- “Maze Runner: The Death Cure“ (PG-13)
Production on the movie was shut down for months after Dylan O’Brien took a blow to the head during one of his stunts. The accident happened during a scene where he gets onto a train from a moving car, and Dylan’s especially proud they decided to keep it in the film.
This is the final movie in the “Maze Runner” trilogy. It centers around his character Thomas infiltrating the Last City to rescue one of their friends from being used as a lab rat.
Patricia Clarkson and Aiden Gillen from “Game of Thrones” are back as the bad guys. They’ve been experimenting on the Gladers to find a cure for the zombie-like Flare virus, since the teenagers are the only ones who seem to be immune to it.
- “Hostiles“ (R)
Christian Bale plays an Army captain in the Old West, who reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne chief back to his tribal burial grounds in Montana, despite their intense hatred for one another.
Along the way, they meet Rosamund Pike, a widow who joins their party after having barely escaped the murder of her family by a Comanche war party. Wes Studi is the Cheyenne chief, Adam Beach is his son, and Jewel’s cousin Q’orianka Kilcher plays Adam’s wife.
