U Of I Grad Students Promise Strike Today
(Urbana, IL) — It remains to be seen who’ll be in the classrooms at the University of Illinois’ main campus. Unionized graduate students last night said they will walk out of their classes today, as part of a strike. The grad students want higher wages, more money for tuition waivers, and cheaper health insurance. The university said it’s offered a fair compensation package. The two sides spent the past eleven months trying to come to terms. The strike is set to begin at 8 a.m.
