Effingham, IL – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, today announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of February. Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence,
Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 152 calls for service and initiated 1,225 incidents in the field.
In addition, enforcement figures totaled 544 citations and 703 written warnings, including 247 speeding citations, 3 DUIs, 79 seat belt citations, 3 child restraint citations, 200 written warnings for speeding, and 40 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 176 motorists, conducted 263 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 63 traffic crashes. There were no fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in February.
During the month, 345 citations and 257 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
