New in Theaters:
- “Tomb Raider“ (PG-13)
Alicia Vikander takes over as Lara Croft in a new origin story where Lara follows a trail of clues to Japan to figure out what happened to her missing father.
It basically follows the plot of the 2013 video game that rebooted the franchise.
A wounded and inexperienced Lara fights for her life and learns new survival skills after she’s stranded on a fictional island called Yamatai, where she’s hunted by a group of mercenaries who are searching for the tomb of an ancient sorceress.
Dominic West plays her father in the flashbacks, Walton Goggins from “Justified” is the bad guy, and Daniel Wu from “Into the Badlands” is also in it as her trusted guide.
- “I Can Only Imagine“ (PG) Trailer
It’s based on the true story of how the challenging events in the life of MercyMe singer Bart Millard inspired him to write his hopeful song “I Can Only Imagine“.
- “Love, Simon“ (PG-13)
Nick Robinson plays a closeted 17-year-old who starts an anonymous relationship with a fellow gay teen on his school’s gossip blog . . . and then gets blackmailed by another student, to help him get closer to a popular girl at school.
Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel play his parents, Tony Hale is the vice principal at his high school, and Alexandra Schipp is the girl everyone has a crush on. You’d know her as the younger version of Storm in the “X-Men” movies.
- “7 Days in Entebbe“ (PG-13)
A thriller based on a risky mission to rescue the passengers aboard an Air France flight that was hijacked while traveling from Tel Aviv to Paris in 1976.
Two of the terrorists are played by Bond girl Rosamund Pike and Daniel Bruhl, who you might remember as Helmut Zemo in “Captain America: Civil War”.
