(Undated) — Easter spending is expected to be the second-highest on record this year. The National Retail Federation says 59-percent of consumers shopped at discount stores for their Easter gifts while 46-percent shopped at department stores. Twenty-eight-percent of Americans made online purchases, 25-percent shopped at a specialty store and 25-percent went to a local store. Among Smartphone users, 30-percent compared prices and researched items on their devices and 19-percent used their device to make a purchase.
Consumers are also celebrating the holiday in a variety of ways. About 60-percent are visiting family and friends while 35-percent of consumers will participate in an Easter Egg hunt.
