No Ban On Illinois Youth Tackle Football This Spring

(Springfield, IL) — Youth league football coaches across Illinois can breathe a bit easier. The author of a plan to ban tackle football for anyone under 12-years-old in the state says she doesn’t have enough support to pass a ban this spring. State Rep Carol Sente yesterday said there’s just too much opposition. Sente said parents need to learn the link between tackle football and brain trauma. But Sente isn’t ruling out bringing the plan back for a second try this fall.
