The 8th Annual 18th Street Block Party is scheduled for Saturday, May 5 from 10 to 4 in Charleston. This event is a celebration of spring started eight years ago by a few local merchants on 18th Street. The event has grown from eight to twenty businesses this year. Participating businesses offer a wide range of activities that include shopping specials, food vendors, craft vendors, free carriage ride, and live music.
This has been a popular event in the Charleston community and it offers a great family friendly day of activities without venturing to far from home. As attendees work their way from Pilson’s Auto at Lincoln Avenue to Charleston Rehabilitation Center near Madison Avenue, they will be tempted by the aromas from several food vendors and tempted by the great shopping specials offered by many of the participating merchants and craft vendors.
Half way between Lincoln Avenue and Madison Avenue will be the ERBA Headstart Touch a Truck event from 10 to 2 in the parking lot of the Coles County Department of Human Services. Across the street at Bartley’s Garage will be free carriage rides from 11:00 to 1:00. Next door, Home Again Consignment Shop will offer live music from Ron and Jan Easter from 11:00 to 1:00.
Participating businesses include: Pilson’s Auto, Dave’s Decorating Center, Infinity Fitness, First Neighbor Bank, Bike and Hike, Eastern Illinois Auto, People’s Bank and Trust, Myerscough Automotive, 18th Street Farmers Market, Charleston Family Dental, Home Again Consignment Shop, Villas of Holly Brook, Eastside Package ,Charleston Rehabilitation Center, Culligan Water, Monical’s, SACIS, Bartley’s Garage, 18th Street Garden Stop, Lake Wood Village and the ERBA Headstart Program.
