(Cannes, France) — The 71st Cannes Film Festival opens today. Hollywood stars, movie studio heavyweights, and film buffs who can afford the airfare and the price of admission are filling the resort town on the French Riviera. Films in the running for honors this year include Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” the true story of a black Colorado Springs Police detective who went undercover in the Ku Klux Klan. One high-profile screening is “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which opens in the U.S. on May 25th. The Cannes Film Festival runs through May 19th.
