(Washington, DC) — Flags are flying at half-staff to honor the victims of a deadly school shooting in Texas. President Trump issued a proclamation ordering public buildings and military bases to lower their flags. Ten people were killed and ten others wounded when a 17-year-old gunman opened fire this morning at Santa Fe High School near Galveston. In his proclamation, Trump wrote “Our nation grieves with those affected by the shooting at Santa Fe HIgh School.” Earlier today, the President condemned the attack, calling it “horrific” and pledging to take steps to prevent future school shootings.
The massacre comes just three months after a shooting left 17 people dead at a high school in Parkland, Florida that sparked a national debate over gun laws.
