Has your phone ever overheated, then a message popped up that said it wouldn’t work until it cooled down? It’s more common in the summer, for obvious reasons. And letting it get too hot CAN damage it.
If it stays hot for too long, you can end up with corrupted files, slowdown issues, or a leaky battery. So here are three tips to help protect it . . .
1. Don’t leave it in direct sunlight. Sometimes it happens accidentally when you’re charging it on a table, and you don’t realize the sun shifted. And that’s even worse, because charging it ALSO heats it up. So be careful where you plug it in.
2. Don’t leave it in your parked car. On a 95-degree day, it takes about an hour for the temperature in there to hit 115. And according to Apple, you shouldn’t store your iPhone anywhere over 113 degrees.
3. Never put your phone under your pillow. Some people do it while they’re charging it at night. And it can get pretty hot under there. Even if you have A/C, it can make your phone overheat.
If your phone DOES overheat, don’t put it in your pocket. And maybe take the case off. Just don’t put it in the freezer, or you could end up with water damage. A rapid drop in temperature can cause condensation to build up INSIDE your phone.
