Thieves Escape With Swedish Crown Jewels
(Stockholm) — Police in Sweden are on the hunt after thieves made off with the royal family’s crown jewels. The heist went down Tuesday at the Cathedral of Strangnas, about 80 miles from Stockholm. The thieves escaped in a motorboat moored outside the 900-year-old church. Police immediately launched a search by land, sea and air but as of now, the culprits remain at large. The jewels, two crowns and an orb date back to the early 17th century. A police spokesman said it’s not possible to put an economic value on the jewels, calling them invaluable objects of national interest.
