Excitement is building for Coles County Relay For Life! However, Coles County Relay For Life is in need of some special volunteers.
They have something planned during Opening Ceremonies for Childhood Cancer Warriors and Survivors if you are/were a warrior or survivor please contact Coles County Relay For Life ASAP so they can include you.
Age is NOT a factor so if your in your 50’s but had cancer as a child they still WANT you!
According to Jennifer Weidner, “We would like your son/daughter/sibling/parent to be a part of this special event to put a special emphasis to Childhood Cancer. We want to flood the stage with young and old who were given the dx of 20 and younger of a cancer. Your son could bring a support person with him onstage that evening (August 25th) my daughter (Elizabeth Weidner) is giving the lead in then each warrior/survivor will introduce themselves, the age of dx, the type of dx, the length of tx, and some may give a piece of advice of what has gotten them through tx or late effects, we want each survivor to then say I am a SURVIVOR because… they will then hand off the microphone to the next person. We would like each survivor to wear their own or a Childhood Cancer T-shirt! For individuals who are shy, we have had siblings give this introduction in their honor.”
