(Alexandria, VA) — The judge in Paul Manafort’s fraud trial is now under federal protection. Judge T.S. Ellis said today he’s under the protection of U.S. marshals after receiving threats about the case. Ellis also said he won’t release the names of the 12-member jury because he’s concerned about their safety. The judge didn’t reveal details about the threats and spoke outside the jurors’ presence. The news comes as the panel deliberated for a second day without reaching a verdict in the Manafort case. The former Trump campaign chairman is accused of bank fraud and tax crimes.
