The Illinois Department of Transportation is lowering the speed limit for a portion of I-74.
Starting Friday, August 31, 2018, the speed limit will be 60 miles-per-hour starting west of I-57 to east of Cunningham Avenue in Champaign. A recently completed study shows current prevailing speeds, crash rates and the number of interchanges justified the reduced speed limit.
