Sonoma County Wine Bus Driver Gets Arrested For DUI
(Healdsburg, CA) — A van driver hauling tourists through California’s Sonoma County wine country is facing DUI charges. The CHP says the busload of about eight tourists reported back to the van last Friday to find 60-year-old Eugene Cremen asleep behind the wheel. He then headed south on Highway 101, where he almost struck a big rig before the passengers forced him to exit the freeway. Records show that Cremen has a prior DUI conviction within the last 10 years and his blood alcohol level was approximately three times the .08 legal limit for regular drivers, but people hired to transport passengers are held to a higher standard of .04 after a new law went into effect in July. The passengers from the van were forced to call for rideshares following Cremen’s arrest.
