One person was killed in an accident north of Effingham Saturday. According to the Illinois State Police, a tractor-trailer driven by Terrell Ross, of Hopkins, South Carolina rear-ended a vehicle driven by Marchelle Collins, of Chicago. 74-year-old Mary Gates, a passenger in Collins’ vehicle, was air-lifted to Carle and later pronounced dead.
