Tropical Storm Gordon Still Headed For Landfall As Hurricane
(Miami, FL) — Tropical Storm Gordon is moving steadily toward the northern Gulf coast and is expected to make landfall tonight as a hurricane. As of 8 a.m. Eastern time, Gordon was located about 190 miles east-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River and has slowed down slightly, now moving west-northwest at 15 miles an hour. Top winds are 65 miles an hour and forecasters at the National Hurricane Center expect Gordon to strengthen today and have issued a hurricane warning from the Louisiana-Mississippi border to the Alabama-Florida border. Tropical storm warnings are up for eastern Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle counties of Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa.
