Over A Dozen Men Near Ground Zero On 9/11 Have Breast Cancer
(New York, NY) — There’s a new report that 15 men who worked or lived near Ground Zero during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center have breast cancer. A New York City law firm, Barasch McGarry, says five are first responders, including an NYPD sergeant, two firefighters, an ironworker and a highway repairman. Nationally, men account for just one-percent of all breast cancer cases, making these cases a statistical outlier. The World Trade Center Health Program says nearly ten-thousand people have been diagnosed with various cancers because of exposure to toxic smoke and dust during the terrorist attack and cleanup.
