(Sunspot, NM) — It’s still unclear why a solar observatory in New Mexico was evacuated and closed last week but it definitely wasn’t because of off-world aliens. A spokeswoman from the National Solar Observatory told the Washington Post that the closure is not linked to aliens. The facility is 130 miles from Roswell, where legends claim a U-F-O crashed in 1947. The U.S. government said it was a weather balloon that crashed and started the legend. The spokeswoman added that the facility will remain closed until further notice as a security issue is addressed. The Post reports that the FBI was on scene at the time of the evacuation and local law enforcement, along with most everyone else has been kept in the dark.
