Ticketmaster Denies Scalping Report
(West Hollywood, CA) — Ticketmaster is pushing back on reports that it purposely sells tickets to scalpers. The Canadian Broadcasting Company reported that Ticketmaster was operating an invite-only platform that allowed scalpers to buy tickets in bulk and resell them at whatever price they like, and that Ticketmaster got a portion of the sales. The company says that’s “categorically untrue.” Ticketmaster released a statement to USA Today saying it allows professional resellers to distribute tickets to multiple marketplaces, but that resellers are prohibited from purchasing tickets that exceed the posted ticket limit for an event. Ticketmasterinsists that fake accounts created to bypass ticket limits are forbidden.
