(Riyadh) — A top Saudi official says 18 people are in custody for the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Saudi Arabia’s top prosecutor announced the results of a preliminary investigation on state-run TV Friday. The Saudis said Khashoggi was killed in a brawl in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey two weeks ago. President Trump has called the arrests a “great first step.” At a campaign rally in Arizona last night, Trump called Saudi Arabia a great ally of the U.S., but said Khashoggi’s death is unacceptable.
