PayPal is banning the social media site used by the suspect in Saturday’s deadly shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue. Suspect Robert Bowers used Gab to post his anti-Semitic beliefs. The Philadelphia-based social media site bills itself as a free speech alternative to Twitter. A PayPal spokesperson wrote in an email to the website C-NET that when a site allows the perpetuation of hate, violence or discriminatory intolerance, they take immediate and decisive action. The email says they were in the process of cancelling Gab’s account before the shooting Saturday morning that left 11 people dead and six others wounded.
